Wayne Bennett, VP Sales and Marketing for MKN in UK and Ireland, explores the role of industry associations and how our membership can drive benefits for customers.
The foodservice and hospitality sectors have been hit harder than most in recent years. Aside from the debilitating impact of Covid-19 lockdowns, operators in all corners of the UK have faced energy price increases, food inflation and staff shortages compounded by Brexit. Now we are in the grip of a cost of living crisis which has decimated disposable incomes and reduced footfall in all catering sectors. Despite all of this, one of most noticeable traits of our industry continues to be the togetherness shown by manufacturers, distributers and operators alike. And there has never been a better time to get involved in this collaborative approach, driven by our numerous industry associations.
Whether it is the Craft Guild of Chefs (chefs), CEDA (dealers), LACA (education), TUCO (universities) HCA (hospitals) or any other of our longstanding industry associations, these vital organisations provide a consistent voice, enhanced support, resources and more to help strengthen individual categories. From regional meetings and professional development opportunities, to help with procurement and research/insights, they provide members with a wealth of benefits. And for MKN, as supplier members, we can unlock our own benefits as well as supporting potential customers who are also affiliated. We can tap into industry forums, identify news trends and product development, get feedback on innovations and access new markets. While end users and distributers can access exclusive discounts, insights and information from our expert team.
Industry associations continue to provide benefits for all and we will continue to contribute however we can to help them achieve their objectives for all. Have you asked how you can get involved?
